Kpler: Dangote Refinery Tops Europe Jet Fuel Supply for Second Month

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has emerged as Europe’s largest supplier of imported jet fuel for the second consecutive month, overtaking the United States and further strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global aviation fuel market.

Latest data compiled by commodities intelligence firm Kpler show that the 700,000-barrels-per-day refinery supplied more than 400,000 tonnes of jet fuel to Europe in July, accounting for about 20 per cent of the continent’s total imports.

This follows a record 466,000 tonnes exported to Europe in June, when Dangote first displaced the United States as the region’s leading supplier.

Industry observers say the refinery’s strategic location on Nigeria’s Atlantic coast, production capacity and export capability are reshaping established fuel supply routes, providing European buyers with an alternative to traditional suppliers in the United States and Middle East.

The development comes amid changing global energy flows and efforts by European markets to diversify supplies.

Dangote Refinery has also increased its overall production and exports of refined petroleum products, including aviation fuel, diesel and petrol, to markets across Europe, Africa and beyond.

The refinery’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, David Bird, says the growing export volumes are strengthening Nigeria’s position as a net exporter of high-value refined petroleum products.
