Executive Concept Note
Two-Day National Aviation Industry Conference and Exhibitions
Nigeria’s aviation industry is a critical enabler of national economic development, connectivity, trade, tourism, investment, employment and regional integration. While significant progress has been recorded in regulatory oversight, airport infrastructure, air navigation services, aviation safety and security, professional training, digitalisation and private-sector participation, the industry continues to face structural and operational constraints that affect its competitiveness, resilience and long-term sustainability.
Key challenges include the high cost of airline operations; access to aircraft financing and leasing; foreign-exchange exposure; aviation fuel costs; airport and air navigation infrastructure requirements; regulatory efficiency; human-capital development; consumer protection; digital transformation; cybersecurity; investment mobilisation; inter-agency coordination; sustainability; and long-term policy consistency.
Against this background, NCATAA proposes a two-day National Aviation Industry Conference themed “The Aviation Industry in Nigeria Today and the Way Forward.” The conference featuring a ministerial aviation policy address will provide an independent, high-level professional platform for government, aviation regulators and agencies, airlines, airport and air navigation service providers, aviation professionals, investors, financial institutions, technology companies, academia, development partners and other stakeholders to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the industry and agree practical priorities for its future.
The conference will be structured around 12 strategic pillars: aviation policy and governance; safety and regulatory oversight; airline sustainability and aviation economics; airports and infrastructure; air navigation services and CNS/ATM; aviation security and cybersecurity; human capital and professional development; digital transformation and emerging technologies; aviation investment and financing; passenger experience and consumer protection; cargo, tourism and logistics; and sustainability and future aviation.
The 12 Strategic Pillars
Particular attention will be given to the future of aviation regulation; sustainable airline operations; aircraft acquisition and leasing; airport modernisation; future CNS/ATM infrastructure; artificial intelligence and automation; digital transformation; cybersecurity and critical infrastructure resilience; aviation financing; manpower development; passenger experience; air cargo and logistics; tourism; environmental sustainability; and the opportunities presented by emerging aviation technologies.
Conference Programme and Activities
The programme will combine:
The conference is deliberately conceived as an industry policy and action forum rather than simply another aviation conference. Its principal objective is to move the national aviation conversation from repeated identification of challenges toward coordinated solutions, clearly defined priorities and measurable actions.
Nigeria Aviation Industry Conference Communiqué and Strategic Action Framework
The conference will culminate in a Nigeria Aviation Industry Conference Communiqué and Strategic Action Framework, identifying priority interventions, responsibilities and strategic recommendations for government, regulators and industry, with particular emphasis on building a safer, more competitive, financially sustainable, digitally enabled, investment-friendly and globally relevant Nigerian aviation industry over the next five to ten years.
